Nine people have been injured and 23 left homeless in a fire that gutted Kasekulo landing site, Mugoye Sub County in Kalangala District.

One of the victims, Isaac Kisembo says that his 3.8 million shillings from fish sales was burnt in his house.
“All the money is gone. Neither did I remain with any property.” Kisembo said.
The Red Cross Branch Manager Kalangala, Ibrahim Ssenyonga says that the injured were immediately taken Mugoye Health Center III for treatment. They included a seven months old pregnant mother.
“The fire quickly extended to other houses until it was put out by fishermen.” He said.
Two weeks ago, one person died and seven others injured in a fire that gutted 35 households on Nkose Island, Mazinga sub-county.
