Joseph Opoya, the Association Chairperson and head teacher of Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational School, says some members have failed to pay sub subscription fees and administer exams compiled by the association.
The Association
of Secondary School Head Teachers of Uganda–ASSHU Kamwenge branch is
contemplating taking punitive action against some members for none compliance.
Joseph Opoya, the Association Chairperson and head teacher of Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational School, says some
members have failed to pay sub subscription fees and administer exams compiled
by the association.
Some of the none
compliant schools are Kabuga Parents Secondary School, Trinity High School, St
Mary’s Rugonjo Secondary School, St Francis of Asisi, Cleverland Secondary
School, Kibale High school, Panaroma Secondary School, Kabujogera Secondary
School and Kabambiro Secondary School among others.
According to
Opoya, the head teachers of the affected schools have failed to attend association
meetings and pay subscription of Shillings 200,000.

Opoya warns that they will have no option but the drop the
schools should the head teachers fail to comply with the association rules.
He also says the association
will not stand by the schools or the head teachers should any calamity befell
them.
Medard
Byamukama, the head teacher Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational school who
doubles as the secretary for co-curricular activities under ASSHU Kamwenge branch, says the association has done a great job
towards improving the academic standards and sports, saying it can even do
better with support from all the members.

Geoffrey Nemeyimana, the head teacher Lawrence High School
told our reporter that the association is trying to promote unity and
cooperation in schools but is being frustrated by delayed subscription payment.

The head teachers of the non-compliant
schools haven’t commented as none of them was present during the association
meeting on Wednesday.
ASSHU unites secondary
school head teachers across the country.
Its major objective is to mobilize
head teachers to perform their duties in collaboration with both local and
national stakeholders and in line with the policies and objectives of the
Education and Sports Ministry.
