Northern Uganda Artistes Criticize Singer Chameleone's Illegal Shows in Gulu

Northern Uganda Artistes under their umbrella Northern Entertainment Association have criticized singer Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone for staging illegal shows in Gulu City, something they said violated the standard operating procedures put in place to curb down the spread of COVID -19 infections.

On Tuesday night, police dispersed hundreds of revelers from Terminal Hangout in Pece –Laroo Division in Gulu City where the singer had staged an illegal show past curfew time. The crowd including the singer violated all the SOPs.

Oduka says the illegal shows exposed a lot of revelers to the risk of COVID -19 infection and that Chameleon should come out to apologize and that police should also expedite the investigation into the matter and bring the singer to book.

Otim revealed that the singer has so far staged three illegal shows in Gulu City in less than one week and that police should take immediate action against him to deter others from perpetrating the vice.

Police on Wednesday revealed that they have opened a general inquiry file to investigate the circumstance under which the singer staged illegal shows under the watch of security force.But when contacted for an update of the investigation, David Mudong Ongom, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson declined to disclose any development in that regard.

Attempts by URN reporter to contact for a comment Singer Jose Chameleon were unsuccessful as he declined to answer his phone.
