Provisional results from 15 out of 280 polling stations in the Isingiro district woman parliamentary by-election indicate that NRM's Grace Byarugaba is ahead of her rival Stella Kafureka.
So far Grace Byarugaba has 1320 votes against her rivals 751 votes. The by-elections follow the death of late Vicky Kyaka in a motor accident.
At Rwangunga polling station, Grace Byarugaba had 288 votes while Stella Kafureka had 160votes. While at Rwakakwenda polling station, Byarugaba had 137 , Kafureka had 59 votes.
The final vote tally is not expected until passed midnight because roads towards the Tanzania border are in a poor state.
In most polling stations Grace Byarugaba was beating Stella Kafureka by more than half.
Harriet Kashagire, the Isingiro returning officer said earlier that there was poor turn up of voters.
Kashagire says rains and the long distance could have contributed to the low turn up.
However, James Muhereza, a resident of Kabingo says he did not vote because he was not interested.
Muhereza says since the last election nothing tangible has been done to address their problems of lack of clean water and roads.
Muhereza says up today people struggle with cattle for water, something that annoys him most.
