NRM Delays Namisindwa Primary Elections

Sarah Netalisire Kayagi, one of the candidates eyeing the Namisindwa Woman MP NRM party ticket, says the postponement of the polls is stressful financially and physically. She notes that this is the second time the primaries are being postponed.
The National Resistance Movement-NRM party has rescheduled the primary elections for the LC V chairperson and Woman Member of parliament in the newly created Namisindwa district.

The primary elections will take place on Tuesday August 22 instead of Monday August 21st as earlier planned. Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Party Electoral Commission Chairperson, says they decided to postpone the polls because they received logistics late.

“We have pushed the elections by six hours,” he said. He however, says they have received the ballot papers from their headquarters. The postponement of the polls hasn't gone down well with some of the candidates vying for the NRM party ticket.

The first elections were scheduled to take place in July but were delayed due to lack of money. Kayagi however, appeals to her voters to remain calm. The other candidates battling for the woman MP ticket are Canon Grace Namakula Watuwa and Juliet Leah Wanyenya.

Those vying for the Namisindwa LC V Chairperson NRM party ticket are Jackson Wakoyika, the interim chairperson and George William Wopuwa, the former Bubulo East MP and former Busia District Chief Administrative Officer.
