Losers in the recently concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party primaries have formed an association to help them stay relevant and steer the development of the party. Dubbed Action for Transformation and Sustainable Development Association, the group comprises 2000 registered members across the country.

Key of the aims and objectives of the association is to have one voice as neglected party primary members. The NRM members accuse the party leaders of neglecting them noting that since the party primaries and the general elections, the party leadership has resorted to recruiting people from the opposition forgetting them.

They blame their loss in the polls on the party leaders at the secretariat who failed to organize proper primary elections. Baker Kyabamde Njuki, the loser in the NRM primary elections for Kampala Central, says the party leaders have concentrated on the winners and neglected losers, who need counseling.

He says that the association will not only give them one voice as dumped cadres and losers but also help them foster national development from within the party.

Robert Muhereza Mathias, the Association Chairperson for the Western region and former Rubanda West parliamentary candidate says that the association was formed to unite them as NRM party Cadres who lost in the party primaries.

He says they are also looking at how to transform the electorates despite failing to make it through the elections. Muhereza says that they will lobby for their voters based on the party manifesto and follow up on the government programs like Emyooga, Youth livelihood, and UWEP.

Godson Turyamureeba, the loser in the Bunyaruguru County Parliamentary elections, says the party has failed to come up with a proper plan for the youth, adding that they will use the association to advocate for a plan.
