Several businesses remained paralyzed in Arua city today as NRM supporters  gathered to witness and later celebrate President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's nomination as a presidential candidate for the 2021 elections.

Over 200 Yellow Brigade members converged at Arua City Mayor’s gardens as early as 8am and spent the whole day making speeches and dancing as they watched the nominations on TV.

The NRM supporters who are also members of a political SACCO group in the center of Arua city also rejoiced as Museveni was officially nominated.

According to the members, the occasion is worth celebrating because they are expectant of a win again in the coming presidential elections as this will drum up more support for the NRM party.

// Cue in; We are celebrating.…Cue out; go back to NRM…." //

Meanwhile, Isa Kato, the Arua City Mayor who lost in the NRM primary elections and has since been nominated as an Independent also joined the NRM supporters and explained that there is still a lot of unfinished business which they want Museveni to accomplish.

Kato says with Museveni security of the country is guaranteed that is why they have declared the whole Monday to celebrate.

// Cue in; Our security, he .…Cue out; unfinished businesses…." //

According to Joyce Amaguru, the vice NRM chairperson Arua district said that the celebration is meant to spark a mass mobilization drive for the NRM candidates in Arua and West Nile region.   // Cue in; Today we are very.…Cue out; campaign for him…." //

But some members of the opposition in Arua scoffed at the NRM supporters in Arua for wasting time to be idle instead of fighting poverty which is still high in their homesteads.

Fadhil Lemeriga, the Democratic Party parliamentary Candidate for Arua Central Division says it was a waste of time to spend a whole day dancing and yet at their homes a lot is lacking.
