NRM Sweeps Masindi By-Elections

The by-election for the Kigumba sub-county chairperson in Masindi district has been won by Rosemary Matunda of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).



Election results released this morning by Daniel Nayebale, the Masindi Returning Officer, indicate that Matunda polled 3,270 votes. Her closest rival, John Otim of the Forum for Democratic Change, polled 1,974 votes. The third candidate in the race, Steven Babu who stood on an independent ticket, got 553 votes.



In other local council by-elections in Masindi, Jacob Karubanga of the NRM won the LC5 councilor post for Kigumba sub-county. He beat two independent candidates
