NUP Sweeps Kampala Central, Nakawa Division

NUP only lost one out of four women slots, which went to Olive Namazzi Kagobola, a candidate for the Forum for Democratic Change. In Nakawa 1, Nkugwa Fauzol was declared the winner with 2,794 votes defeating NRM’s Robert Webale who scored 1,159. In Nakawa II, Innocent Tegusulwa polled 3,714 votes to defeat NRM's Meddie Mutumba who garnered 1,795.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has won nine out of the ten seats for the directly elected councillors (LCV) and woman councillors (LCV) from Nakawa Division to Kampala Capital City Authority. 

NUP only lost one out of four women slots, which went to Olive Namazzi Kagobola, a candidate for the Forum for Democratic Change. In Nakawa 1, Nkugwa Fauzol was declared the winner with 2,794 votes defeating NRM’s Robert Webale who scored 1,159. In Nakawa II, Innocent Tegusulwa polled 3,714 votes to defeat NRM's Meddie Mutumba who garnered 1,795. 

Faizol Kibirige garnered 3,170 votes to defeat DP's Edward Muwanga who got 2,145 votes in Nakawa III, while Charles Mpindi won in Nakawa IV with 3,331 against NRM's Kaija Ronald who polled 2,609 votes. 

Additionally, Chaggason Twaha Abdul won Nakawa V with 3,442 votes against FDC's Kennedy Okello who had 2,383, while Ssebuwufu John Mary beat NRM's Richard Magezi with 1,334 against 5,204 to secure the slot for Nakawa VI.  Ssebuwufu says that the win is humbling.

The Women’s position in Nakawa B was taken by Immaculate Nalwadda, while Nakawa C was won by Lilian Nakakande and Winnie Nansubuga won Nakawa D.  

Meanwhile, NUP also won all the three seats in Kampala Central. For Kampala Central I Francis Mbazira garnered 5,577 against his closest rival Moses Kizito of NRM who scored 3, 071 votes.  Moses Katabaazi got 10,227 against DP's Labson Kijjambu who scored 2,768 for Kampala II and Mavis Nakitende won the woman councillor Kampala central with 12, 869 against NRM's Eva Birungi who scored 9,141.
