The winner in the two home and away basis game tie will face the winner in a similar tie from West Nile region where the overall winner then qualifies to play in Uganda's second tier football league, the FUFA Big League in the forthcoming season.
The
management of Young Elephants FC has said they need UGX17 million for
the team to prepare ahead of their two legged qualification games
against Gateway FC of Lira City in the Northern regional football League
play-offs .
The winner between Young Elephants
FC and Lira City FC will face the winner in a similar tie from West
Nile region where the overall winner then qualifies to play in Uganda's
second tier football league, the FUFA Big League in the 2020/2021
season. Jimmy Ojok, the club`s Chief Executive officer
says the money will help in transporting the team for the games, feeding
and acquisition of other sports materials including footballs and
playing boots among others.
Ojok said they have raised less than 5m in their fundraising drives that have been running for the last three months.
According
to Ojok, their attempts to reach local leaders for support failed as
most of the leaders are focusing on campaigns ahead of the forthcoming
general elections.
Young Elephants FC finished top of their
group in the Northern Region football league as they sought for their
maiden appearance in Uganda`s second tier football league at the time
the government banned all sporting activities to curtail the spread of
COVID-19.
FUFA is yet to announce the dates for play-offs to be played.
