The licensed oil companies including CNOOC Uganda Ltd, TotalEnergies, and UNOC have spent close to eight million dollars in training Ugandans in different aspects of oil and gas says Ernest Rubondo, the Executive Director of Petroleum Authority of Uganda-PAU.

The second
Oil and Gas Skills Expo by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda opened on Thursday
at Kyambogo University under the theme
“Training and Skills: Unlocking Employment Opportunities in the Oil and Gas
Sector and Beyond” It was opened by the state minister for minerals, Phiona Nyamutoro.
The expo is part of the skills development for
the oil and gas sector. The oil and gas sector is likely to create 15000 jobs.
The expo has attracted academia, players
in the oil and gas sector policymakers, and students.
It serves as an opportunity for students to explore career and training
opportunities in Uganda's oil and gas sector. URN captured part of the
