Omoro LC5 Chairperson Seeks Security Protection Over Death Threat

The district chairperson disclosed that the councilor whom he declined to disclose due to investigation purposes threatened him on phone that he will end his life for attacking and tarnishing his personality to the public and his family.

The Omoro district chairperson, Douglas Peter Okello Okao is seeking security protection following death threats against his life.

Okao told Uganda Radio Network (URN) that his life was on Monday last week threatened by a district councilor in Opit Town Council who accused him of conniving with security to impound his vehicle while driving beyond the curfew time.   

The district chairperson disclosed that the councilor whom he declined to name due to on-going investigation. He said the councilor threatened him on phone that he will end his life for attacking and tarnishing his personality to the public and his family.   

He noted that he is currently living in fear for his life due to the threats and urgently needs protection from the security. 

He has reported the matter to the forth division army barracks and police Professional Standards in Aswa River Region.   

Bonny Bamwiseki, the Forth Division Army Barracks Commander told URN that an investigation into the matter has commenced and jointly being done by Police in Aswa River Region and forth division army barracks.   

Aswa River Regional Police Commander, Emitu Ezekiel confirmed the matter to URN noting that investigation is on-going.
