Rwenzururu King Airlifted to Kampala

Mumbere who has been in detention at Kasese Police Station since 1pm, was driven in a convoy of army and police vehicles to Kasese Airstrip at Nyakasanga. He was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Asuman Mugenyi.
Rwenzururu King 'Omusinga' Charles Wesley Mumbere has been airlifted to Kampala. 

Mumbere who has been in detention at Kasese Police  Station since 1pm, was driven in a convoy of army and police vehicles to Kasese Airstrip at Nyakasanga. He was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Asuman Mugenyi. 

Police is tight lipped on the next course of action for Mumbere.

Earlier in the day, UPDF soldiers  carried out a major offensive on his palace in Kasese town. Scores of royal guards were killed in the shelling.

The town is now calm after a morning filled with gunfire and running battles.
