Police in Sembabule are holding one man, a suspect in the alleged murder of a prominent
farmer in Nakasenyi sub-county.

in the community pond where it was found by residents who had gone to fetch water on Monday morning.
body had multiple bruises on the neck, chest, hands and other parts. According
to Francis Kamugisha, one of the residents, they last saw Muhumuza heading
to a local bar at around 6:30pm. He
says that he had sold two goats and earned ugx500,000.
is said that Muhumuza left the bar at about 8:30pm but he did not reach home that
night. It is believed that unknown people followed Muhumuza after learning that he was
carrying some cash. His
family members waited for him to return that night, but in vain.
In the morning today police were called to retrieve the body in the pond. A
sniffer dog was introduced to the scene and led the detectives to the home of a
24-year-man, who is the prime suspect in the case. A
post-mortem was done at Sembabule HCIV and proved internal bleeding, plus serious
kidney, spleen and other internal organ damages.
Nsubuga, the Southern Region Police Spokesman confirmed the arrest saying
details of the suspect are still confidential because they are still looking
for other suspects who are still at large.
