Police in Kikuube
is holding one suspect in connection with the death of John Katusabe, a
Hoima-based Businessman and Mechanic.
Katusabe, a dealer in second-hand motorcycles in Duhaga, Hoima West division, went missing on Friday after he left his work station to meet a yet to be known person, in Kyangwali sub-county, Kikuube
district, where he was going to buy a motorcycle.
His body was found in the Kinyara sugarcane plantation in
Masindi district on Tuesday evening. The body that
had bruises on the head, face, both hands and the back was first seen by cane cutters who later alerted Masindi police.
Katusabe’s
relatives reported a case of a missing person at Hoima Central Police Station
on February 15, 2021, when he failed to return home from work. They also made several announcements on Radio stations in
Hoima to trace for his whereabouts in vain.
Julius
Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network on
Wednesday evening that one suspect has been arrested from Kikuube to help
police with investigations. The suspect was arrested from Kyangwali, the same area where the deceased had gone.
According to Hakiza,
the suspect whose particulars have been concealed by police for fear of jeopardizing police investigations is currently detained at Kyangwali Central Police Station waiting to be transferred to Hoima Central Police Station adding that the hunt for other suspects is ongoing.
The suspect is
believed to be part of the team that plotted to kill the deceased before robbing an unspecified amount of money from him.
