The accident happened on Saturday afternoon at around 04:20PM at Mupaka village in South Ward, Chahafi town council.
A 12-year-old boy has died and 12 others injured, all juveniles in a road crash along the Kisoro-Chahafi- Gahenerezo road in Chahafi town council, Kisoro district.
The accident happened on Saturday at Mupaka village in South Ward, Chahafi town council when a Mitsubishi Fuso registration number UBN 328X that was loaded with 60 bags of beans from Gahenerezo and Mupaka villages failed to climb a hill and reversed.
In the process, the vehicle overturned. Bright Irakoze, a resident of Mupaka village in Chahafi town council who was among the people seated on top of the bags died on the spot.
The injured were Mark Bayizere, 09, Gerald Niyomuchamanza 12, Daudi Murengezi, 09, Nafutari Iratuzi, 13, Medard Hakizimana, 09, Joab Niyongabo,13, Patrick Niyongabo,08, all residents of Chahafi town council and five others whose identities are not yet known.
Elly Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region says that the injured were taken to Chahafi Health Centre IV for treatment.
