One Dead, 15 Critically Injured in Bugiri Accident

One person has died and 15 others critically injured in an accident involving a trailer and bus along Bugiri-Tororo Highway.
One person has died and 15 others critically injured in an accident involving a trailer and Gateway bus along Bugiri-Tororo Highway this morning. The accident occurred att 8am at Namayemba village in Kapyanga Sub County in Bugiri district.

 

The accident occurred after a trailer registration number UAP 016C belonging to Tororo Cement Industry tried to overtake another trailer and collided with a Gateway bus of registration number KBB 282P. The trailer driver died instantly. Richard Musisi, Bugiri District Police Commander attributes the accident to reckless driving.

He blames the trailer driver to attempting to overtake a danger bend on the highway. Sarah Namboozo, Bugiri hospital director says that most of the accident victims as a still in critical condition and are unable to speak. She says that some of the victims have broken limbs.

She identifies some of the victims as Pamela Ngesa, Paul Njoroge, John Wainana all Kenyans and Amos Sempijja who is a Ugandan from Kampala. Sempijja told URN that he was traveling back to Kampala on his way from Kenya where he had gone to visit his friends in Kenya.
