Woman Dies in Northern Bypass Accident

According to Ministry of Works and Transport performance report of 2016/17 at least 9,572 people have been killed in motor accidents in the last three years countrywide the situation worsens every year.

A woman has been confirmed dead after a fatal accident which occurred on Saturday morning along the Northern Bypass, Kyebando round-about.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, a one Esther Aida Nanyonga, who was driving a Toyota Rav4 UAK 217C collided with a track Crane registration number UAX 216S.

“ Nanyonga was trying to overtake and she rammed into a Crane moving in opposite direction and died instantly, ” explained Owoyesigyire.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for post-mortem as investigations into the accident continue.

The traffic flow was paralyzed for about an hour starting at 11 am when the accident happened before Police towed away both cars.

Road carnage continues to claim many lives of Ugandans with the recent accident two weeks ago that claimed 23 lives along in Kiryandongo along the Gulu Highway.
