He says security officials were promptly alerted about the ambush and an army patrol unit pursued the gunmen men, recovering two sub-machine guns from the fleeing gang.
Ankunda says none of the gunmen have been arrested, but promises that the army will remain in pursuit of the gang until all its members are brought to book.
The army spokesperson discloses that gunmen in the Karamoja region are becoming more ruthless in their attacks on civilians. He says the army is serious about ending this violence and will treat the gunmen in the same way that they treat their victims.
