Zamu Kenkoonzi Baryarugamu, the Kabale based businesswoman who was shot together with her husband by unidentified has succumbed to the gunshot wounds. Kenkoonzi breathed her last at 10:00pm last night at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she was rushed together with her husband, Francis Aryarugamu.

The couple was returning home in Mwanjari trading center Southern Division, Kabale municipality at around 8:40pm shortly after closing their Soda Depot in Kabale Central Market. Aryarugamu was hit in the stomach and the bullet penetrated through the back while Kenkoonzi was shot from the back injuring her right breast.
The thugs, who were riding a motorcycle with unclear number plates, grabbed a black polythene bag from Kenkoonzi containing water melon and took off thinking it, contained money.
The couple was first rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital before they were referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital. Ely Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says Aryarugamu is responding to treatment. He regrets the death of Kenkoonzi, saying they are making all efforts to track down the gunmen who shot them.
Police is investigating the case under file number SD 86/14/08/2018 at Kabale Central Police Station.
