One-Year-Old Dies In Septic Pit

The deceased’s father, Lauben Thembo, says the toddler had gone to play in the neighborhood after the afternoon meal when he met his death. According to Thembo, they got concerned when they spent several hours without seeing the child and tried searching for him in vain.

A toddler has drowned in a 5 feet Septic pit in Kasese district. 

The one-year and three-month-old Sunday Mbusa slipped in the Septic tank on Monday evening in Railway Cell in Kasese Municipality.    

The deceased’s father, Lauben Thembo, says the toddler had gone to play in the neighborhood after the afternoon meal when he met his death. 

According to Thembo, they got concerned when they spent several hours without seeing the child and tried searching for him in vain.     

He says they decided to check the nearby septic pit only to find the minor’s lifeless body. 

Aggrey Kampere, the Officer in Charge of Railway police station called for calm from residents to allow the law to take its course.

The Area Councilor, Hassan Kamuhanda describes the incident as unfortunate and blames individuals who leave septic tanks and man-made ditches open despite the huge number of children in the area.

Vicente Twesige, the Spokesperson Kasese Central Police Division, says the deceased’s body has been handed over to the parents and relatives for burial.
