Opposition Candidate Accuse NRM Rival of Destroying their Posters

Opposition candidates in Lwengo are accusing members of the ruling National Resistance Movement party of defacing their campaign posters.

The opposition claims that 35,000 campaign posters were destroyed ahead of President Yoweri Museveni's campaign visit to the on Friday last week. Matia Nsubuga incumbent Bukoto South MPs that he lost over 25,000 posters.

David Bbaale, an independent candidate contesting against Nsubuga also says about 10,000 of his posters were also defaced.

They accuses Muhamad Muyanja Mbabali, the NRM candidate for sponsoring thugs to tear down their posters to hoodwink Museveni that he is the most popular candidate in the area.

Both Nsubuga and Bbaale say that they have reported the matter to the district police commander and district electoral commission registrar but nothing has been done.

But Mbabali Muyanja Muhamad denies any wrong doing. Mbabali also explains that he lost several campaign posters and reported to Kinoni police station.

Jonathan Barooza says that investigations into the matter are ongoing. Barooza says that not arrests have been made in connection with the case.
