Opposition Urges Electorate in Hoima to Guard Votes

Besigye says since NRM is known for rigging elections, they are also planning to rig the upcoming Hoima elections. He says President Museveni is illegally in office because his NRM party has been rigging elections.

Opposition leaders have rallied voters in Hoima to jealously guard votes in the upcoming Hoima woman MP By-election.   

The made the call on Saturday during a campaign rally for Asinansi Nyakato alias Kamanda of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC at Kitana Primary school playground in Kigorobya town Council Kigorobya county Hoima district.   

 Nyakato is facing off with Harriet Businge Mugenyi alias Baby face, the NRM flag bearer.   

The opposition leaders included Mugisa Muntu, the leader of Alliance for National Transformation, Kiiza Besigye, the former FDC President, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the FDC party President, Erias Lukwago, the Lord Mayor Kampala, Francis Zaake and Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.  

 Besigye says since NRM is known for rigging elections, they are also planning to rig the upcoming Hoima elections.

He says President Museveni is illegally in office because his NRM party has been rigging elections.

He says Ugandans should get prepared to oust the current NRM government before 2021 elections saying they are laying out all the necessary strategies to ensure that peace returns to the country that is currently marred by electoral violence, corruption, unemployment, brutal arrests, kidnaps and murders among other things.

Amuriat said that the electorate should form power ten at parish level to guard the votes before and after elections saying they are ready to escort the votes from Kampala to Hoima.     

He said the current unity among the Joint opposition political parties in the country is a clear manifestation that even in 2021, the opposition is going to take over the leadership of this country.

Lukwago, says it is possible to defeat Museveni in Bunyoro the way he is being defeated in Kampala and therefore people in Bunyoro must decide on the future of this country.

Kyagulanyi challenged the people of Bunyoro to vote for opposition adding that it will be a clear signal to Museveni and his corrupt government that Ugandans are fed up with his government. 

He says by voting opposition MPs is a signal that Museveni is slowly by slowly being uprooted and this will increase on their voices to fight bad laws affecting the country.

Mugisha Muntu, on the other hand, says they fought for the NRM government but later got demoralized by corruption, tribalism, sectarianism, violation of human rights and the dictatorial leadership of President Museveni.

 He calls on the people of Bunyoro to emulate Kabalega and resist the NRM government to cause change and development in the region and the country at large rallying voters in the sub-region not get intimidated by the heavy security that will be deployed to scare them during the elections.

Nyakato pledged to table in parliament issues affecting the people of Bunyoro citing low prices of agricultural produce, poor education system, and poor health system.

   

The Hoima Woman MP Seat fell vacant after Tophace Kaahwa Byagira, the former woman MP opted to represent the people of the newly created Kikuube district that became operational on July 1, 2018. The electoral commission has set September 26 as the polling day.
