Opposition leaders
have rallied the people of Bunyoro region to denounce President, Yoweri
Museveni and his ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party for alleged
incompetence.
The opposition
leaders made the appeal while campaigning for Asinansi Nyakato alias Kamanda,
the Forum for Democratic Change- FDC party candidate in the Hoima woman
parliamentary by elections at Dwoli primary school playground in Kitoba Sub
County on Tuesday.
The opposition
leaders included among others Gen. Mugisha Muntu, the leader of the Alliance
for National Transformation-ANT Party, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, the
Kyadondo East Member of parliament and People Power Movement leader, Joseph
Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon, the Chief Mobiliser of Democratic Party.
Muntu noted that Museveni's government is characterized by high levels of

several Ugandans are frustrated with Museveni’s government, which has continued
giving them lip services.
Muntu asked
voters in Bunyoro to reject Museveni’s government. He explained that despite garnering a lot of support from
Bunyoro region for the last 34 years, the region hasn’t benefited in any
special way from government.
Speaking at the same rally, Kyagulanyi said this
is the time for the people of Bunyoro to tell the nation that they deserve a
government that provides equal services to Ugandans. On her part, Nyakato called upon her supporters to be calm
and guard their votes come Thursday, saying she is assured of victory given the
support she has on ground.
Nyakato is facing stiff competition from Harriet
Businge, the NRM candidate. The Hoima woman MP seat fell vacant after Tophace Kaahwa Byagira, the Former
woman MP opted to represent the newly Kikuube district that was carved out of
Hoima and became operational on July 1,2018.
Electoral Commission set September
26th as the polling day for the By-elections.
