Orthodox Papal Visit Excites Jinja City

Theodoros II tasked Orthodox Christians to safeguard church land, but also promote brotherhood within the circles of believers subscribing to other religious denominations, arguing that such acts fulfill Christ’s plans for humanity.

Christians attached to Jinja city’s based Resurrection Cathedral on Wednesday evening expressed gratitude for the papal visit of Theodoros II of Alexandria, the leader of their church in Africa. 

The Christians told URN that Theodoros II’s visit was a sign of solidarity in the Orthodox Church following the demise of their country leader, Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga. 

Isreal Kityo, the youth leader of Orthodox Christians in Eastern Uganda says that the Pope blesses all humankind irrespective of their religious affiliations to progress in their general spiritual and physical wellbeing. 

Kityo adds that attending papal visits is a sign of exhibiting spiritual growth and believers' submission to the centers of authority within their communities.

Maria Kalisa, a church elder says that she has attended a papal visit before and it was only by God’s grace that, she managed to receive the papal blessing for her second time in a lifetime, after battling Covid-19 for the past three months. 

Kalisa adds that Theodoros II’s visit is a sign of instilling hope among Christians, most of whom had become weary following the financial constraints caused by Covid-19.

Joseph Mukisa, a Christian says that Papal visits increase goodwill amongst church members and their immediate leaders, as most of them tend to focus more on continuous pursuits to fulfill their general life goals and at times run out of time to serve God.

Bridget Namwembe, another Christian says that the papal visit has been a sign of love that, attracted many congregants to their church and it will serve as a landmark to foster construction of a bigger cathedral, where they shall converge and worship their God.

Chrysostom Koolya, the vicar of the resurrection cathedral says that the Pope is a uniting factor within the Orthodox church and his visits help to boost their ability to preach the gospel of peace within their communities.
