Oyam Police are holding one of their own in connection to the escape of two suspects from lawful custody. The suspect is Daniel Aluku, a Police constable attached to Oyam Central Police Station.

His arrest stems from the escape of Robert Atim and Bernard Ochan, both residents of Myene Sub County in Oyam District from Oyam police station on Sunday.

The two, who are wanted for aggravated robbery, made off with Aluku's firearm registration number UG POL 564804 28-24076. Aluku claimed that the suspects assaulted him when he escorted them for a short call and made off with his gun.

On Monday, the North Kyoga Region Police Commander, John Peter Ematu held a crisis meeting to plan how to track down the suspects.

This is the second time police in Lango is losing a gun to suspects fleeing from custody within a period of one year. Sometime last year, police lost a gun to a suspect at Starch Factory.

The suspect reportedly grabbed the gun from a cell's guard on duty and escaped with it. The thug used the gun to kill two mobile money attendants at Ayago trading center in Lira town.
