Pader Hands Over Okinga-Adoo Road Construction Site Under Oilseed Project

Charles Ray Okwir, the Pader district secretary for works and technical services stated that the U.S. Ambassador to Uganda will commission the bridge following it's completion as part of the road on February 13, 2025.

Pader District Local Government has officially handed over the Okinga-Adoo road to Rhino Engineering Works Limited under the Oilseed Project. The project, valued at 845 million shillings, was handed over on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Pader LC V Vice Chairperson Justine Ocen announced that the 9.5 km road, stretching from Okinga in Acholibur Sub-county to Adoo at the Kitgum border, will be fully graveled with murram. The construction is expected to be completed within eight months.

Ocen commended the government for its continued support in improving infrastructure in the district. Acholibur Sub County Chairperson Johnson Okot confirmed that the contractor arrived early and has shown commitment to completing the work ahead of the given schedule.

He noted that 60 percent of the casual labors will be female and 40 percent male. "The Okinga-Adoo road will boost oilseed production in Acholibur and neighboring areas benefiting farmers specializing in crops like soybeans," he added.

Two districts of Kitgum and Pader are carrying out the road gravelling with Kitgum district done. However, Pader began gravelling Okinga-Adoo road on Monday. The bridge was constructed the American government.
