Pader District has been declared the champion of the 2025 Special Needs Education (SNE) Championship, which took place in Kabale District. The event, hosted by the Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association (UPSSA) and Special Needs Education (SNE), attracted 4,333 athletes from 171 out of the 178 local governments across the country.
The competition featured a wide range of events, including sprints, jumps, hurdles, throws, and cross-country races. In regular (ordinary) games, Terego District emerged as the overall winner in the under-14 category, while Arua City triumphed in the under-12 category.
After the games on Sunday evening at Kigezi High School primary playground in Kabale municipality, William Bwambale, the UPSSA President, called on the government to address the issue of land grabbers targeting sports facilities, particularly stadiums and playgrounds.
He emphasized that the lack of proper facilities hinders the growth of sports activities in the country. Bwambale also urged the Ministry of Education and Sports to consider separating SNE games from UPSSA, noting that the involvement of special needs pupils has increased significantly compared to previous years.
