Pallisa Family Arrested Over Father's Body

Police is holding a mother, a son and his wife over the death of Francis Oboi. The body of the deceased was discovered in a swamp, days after he was reported missing.

Police in Pallisa have arrested a family after the body of their father was recovered in a swamp. The wife to the deceased, her son and his wife are detained to help police with investigations.


This follows the recovery of the dead body of Francis Oboi, 48, a resident of Kanyumu “A” village in Butebo sub-county from Kituba swamp.

The OC Butebo police station, Andrew Mike Otekat says investigations have started as they await the postmortem report.

According to police, rumour has it that the deceased's wife had an affair with another man, linked to the disappearance of Oboi. They however refuse to disclose the name of the suspect.


The son of the deceased, Peter Kagezi refused to comment about his father's death, but complained about being denied to attend the burial of his father.

The district councilor for Butebo sub-county, James Okurut says there are increasing cases of murder in the area. He told URN that on 16th August, a family of Yokoakim Opakasi was burnt and three of his family members died.
