Suspected machete welding thugs have struck
again in Nakasongola district killing two people. The thug have hacked two
people to death at Wabigalo trading center along Kampala-Gulu highway.
The deceased have been identified as Fred
Bulega and Fred Mujuni, both residents of Kitego village in Wabinyonyi Sub
County in Nakasongola.
The duo’s torsos and heads were found by a resident
identified as Rashid Barigye in bushes in Wabigalo trading center around 6:
20am on his way to his garden.
According to Barigye, he first
thought one of the residents could have got drunk and lost his way home.
He however,
says that on coming closer, he saw the headless body and alerted the LC 1
chairman who called police to rush to the scene.

Nathan Musoke, the LC 1 Chairman Wabigalo
village, says the two were attacked around 11pm on Sunday night on their way
from a bar to their homes in Kitego village.
He however, says there were no
signs of struggle at the crime scene, which mean they could have been
slaughtered without a fight.
Moses Mutebi, the LC 1 Chairman Kitego village
describes the incident as tragic and called for increased security patrols
since the assailants are likely to be at large.

The Savannah Deputy Regional Police Commander,
David James Wamunyelere rushed to the scene with a team of officers and sniffer
dog but it failed to trace the killers.
Wamunyelere revealed that the prime suspect in
the earlier attack was arrested and confessed to the crime.
He also said they
have since picked up the person who contracted him to commit the murders but
says he could have deployed other killers before he was picked up.
He asks residents to be vigilant and alert security
personnel to enable them arrest the remaining killers.

The motive of the attacks remains unclear but
residents allege that after killing their victims, the assailants collect their
blood for ritual purposes.
Patience Namara, the Nakasongola District
Police Commander, says Police are hunting for a white Premio vehicle registration
number UAY 525K, which is used to evacuate the assailants after their mission.
She
asked the public to immediately alert police if they spot the vehicle anywhere.
The deceased’s bodies are lying at Nakasongola
Health Center IV pending postmortem. This is the second attack by panga welding
men in the same village within a space of one week.
On Thursday, a machete welding man hacked four
people dead in Wabigalo village in broad day light. The victims were identified
as Lozio Matovu (90), Judith Odur (38), Amos Sekanza (7) and Mesearch Mawanda (10).
Nakasongola District officials led by the LC V
Chairperson, Sam Kigula and Area Member of Parliament, Noah Mutebi have called
for a community meeting later today to calm down tensions in the community as
well as draw security measures to guard the village.
