Parish Chief Arrested Over Theft of Bag of Beans in Namisindwa

The LCV Councilor Bukhabusi sub county Noan Weyanga Mweru said that they received information about the missing one bag of beans and that the people who were supposed to deliver the relief items to the victims had kept it with the aim of taking the beans.

Police in Namisindwa is holding two people, one of the a parish chief, for allegedly stealing a sack of beans meant for landslide victims.  

 

The suspects are Maiki Martin Waninda, the Parish Chief of Bumatanda Parish and Kimanayi Lameka, a resident of Bumatanda village in Bukhabusi sub county in Namisidwa District.   

   

The duo was arrested on Sunday by the Bukhabusi sub county residents after it was diosovered that one bag of beans meant to be distributed to landslide victims was missing. 

 

Benard Timbe and Muhammed Khisa a resident of Bukhabusi sub county say they expected three bags of beans but on arrival they only brought two  for them.

He condemned the action of the parish chief of allegedly stealing the relief food for the local people that he supposed to serve as a leader.

Rukia Khainza, the Officer in charge Bukhabusi Police Post confirmed the arrest of the two suspects saying that they have been charged with theft and awaiting to be arraigned in the courts of law.
