Last month, Danson Mujuni was contracted to collect the fees at 300 shillings per hour. All vehicles found parked wrongly are fined 50,000 shillings.
However, the motorists say that most of the areas, where cars are parked and charged are in front of business premises and yet the landlords pay ground rent.
They also accuse the contractor of harassment and issuing receipts that have no serial numbers and account numbers where to bank the money. The municipal authorities are also accused for not sensitizing the public about the new parking system.
Benson Ahereza says that his vehicle was last week clamped by the contractor's workers over wrong parking. Ahereza, however, says that he was surprised when he was given a note directing him to pay at the contractor's office and not in the bank.
Michael Baryampika says that he was also surprised when he was fined 50,000 shillings of wrong parking and was not issued with any receipt after paying.
