Several legislators had, among others, called for a select committee to specifically investigate the recent killings and raid on the Royal Palace of Rwenzururu.
Parliament's defence committee will merge with the legal committee to undertake investigations into clashes at Rwenzururu Kingdom Palace in Kasese district.
The decision came after a debate seeking to address repeated violent clashes in the Rwenzori region. The latest attack claimed more than 60 lives. Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere was also arrested during the operation which was mounted by joint security forces.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga directed that the two committees merge forces during the probe over the next three weeks.

Masaka municipality MP Mathias Mpuuga observed need for a mechanism of truth telling saying that it is not yet clear how many people are in custody and those that lost their lives.
"We are picking information of reprisal arrests. The state has a duty of giving the country the truth. It appears that right now everybody has liberty to report what they want," Mpuuga said.

Before the end of tenth parliament's first session, the Speaker had directed the defence committee chaired by Mityana Woman MP Judith Nabakooba to investigate looming violence in the Rwenzori region. The committee is yet to table its report.
