During the afternoon session, the MPs appealed to the Government to consider rehabilitating the defunct sports facilities in the country, like the John Akii Bua stadium in Lango, the Inzikuru stadium in West Nile, and the Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

The Akii Bua stadium was established in memory of Akii Bua who won Olympic gold medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. In 2010, President Museveni promised the region it would establish a new facility but in vain. Barifa Sports grounds, later renamed Dorcus Inzikuru Stadium in West Nile remains in ruins. The stadium was meant to befit the status of the thee former 3000m steeplechase world champion Inzikuru.

Denis Hamsom Obua, the Ajuri County MP who moved a motion to honor the athletes said the entire plan of Namboole stadium was not complete, as it needs indoor facilities like Netball, Basketball, Tennis, Boxing, Handball among others. He says since the initial funders of the stadium are no longer taking on the stadium, Government should now come in.

Obua also said Ugandan athletes lack training facilities.
