The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among has said that Parliament business will end before 6:00 pm to ensure the safety of Members of Parliament.

Among was speaking during Thursday’s plenary sessions following the twin bomb explosions at Parliamentary Avenue and Central Police Station (CPS) that has so far left 7 people dead and 26 injured.  Parliamentary sittings have often ended after 7:00 pm.

The Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige Kasaija suspended the plenary on Tuesday following the explosions.

Among urged the public and Members of Parliament to cooperate with the security personnel to bring the culprits to book.   Among says no act of the terrorists should deter Ugandans and workers from doing their work.

Parliament paid tribute to the people who died in the attack.

When Parliament resumed business on Thursday, security around the precincts of Parliament was heightened. There was heavy deployment of security personnel at the Parliament gate and parts of Parliament Avenue. Every car was thoroughly checked.

The area where the Bomb explosions went off was cleared and accessible, with a handful of people passing through the heavily guarded area.
