According to Longole, the suspect is believed to have transported the Ammunition from Karenga District to Lolelia Sub County where he has been doing the trade.
Police in Karenga District have arrested a man with Ammunition.
The suspect identified as Lucky Daniel Lokong was arrested on Wednesday at Kapedo checkpoint aboard a Robolyn Bus that was coming from Kitgum heading to Kaabong district.
When security personnel searched the bus, they found Lokong with a bag containing 145 live ammunition.
Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson says that the suspect is believed to have transported the Ammunition from Karenga District to Lolelia Sub County where he has been doing the trade.
He noted that security forces have been struggling to contain the influx of illegal firearms into the region due to porous borders between Kenya and South Sudan.
Longole observed that it is the second time security personnel at Kapedo checkpoint are intercepting ammunition.
He said that in September 2022, they arrested two men who had hidden a gun inside a bag of maize.
Longole revealed that they have strengthened vigilance at every security checkpoint to fight arms trafficking and other related transportation of illegal properties.
Longole says that Lokong is in custody at Kapedo Zonal ASTU headquarters as the investigations kick-off.
