At the beginning of this week, 14 health
workers attached to Kagadi General hospital tested positive for COVID-19.
Most of the patients who spoke to URN on condition
of anonymity explained that many people who were in the hospital are fearing
for the dear lives after learning that over a dozen health workers the
facility recently tested positive for the pandemic.
They noted that some of the patients started fleeing from the the hospital on Wednesday when they reports that some health
workers at the facility had tested positive for Coronavirus.
Most of the patients fled even before they obtained
discharge forms from health facility.
Simon Peter, the Kagadi Hospital Administrator
admits that patients are deserting the facility after some health workers tested
positive adding that the most affected are the maternity, male, children and female
According to Peter, each of the wards that
used to admit between 20 to 25 patients now have between 4 to 7 patients only.
He attributed the situation to the increasing
cases of covid-19 cases at the hospital and other health centers.

Dr. James Olowo, the Kagadi District Health officer-DHO
has called for calm among members of the public saying health officials in the
district are doing all it takes to contain the further spread of the pandemic.
He has asked the general public to continue
visiting the health facility to get appropriate medical services adding that
the whole facility has been fully disinfected after some health workers tested
According to Olowo, most of the COVID-19 patients
including some health workers who tested positive are not in critical condition
adding that they are being managed from their homes.

Lilian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District
Commissioner-RDC who also doubles as the Chairperson COVID-19 Taskforce in the
district says cumulatively, the district has recorded 189 COVID-19 cases since

Ruteraho has called on all Kagadi residents to
strictly observe the issued standard operating procedures-SOPs in order remain safe.
