Slot of Older Persons. The 77-year-old obtained 113 votes to beat musician
Halima Namakula, who scored a paltry nine votes.
Former Minister Captain Francis Edward Babu got three votes,
while Israel Mayengo, a former Buganda Kingdom Minister got only one vote, while
Claudia Naluyima Kamya another independent candidate got eight votes, according
to results declared by Idd Kaahwa the Central North Returning Officer.

At least 134 delegates from 27
districts and cities from Central Uganda participated in elections that were
held at Luwero Diocese Guest House in Luwero town on Monday. Busingye expressed
gratitude after her election and promised to lobby for free health services
among others.

Captain Francis Edward Babu, conceded
defeat saying the elections were fair and congratulated Busingye. But
candidates Mayengo and Namakula described the elections as a sham and marred by
voter bribery. Mayengo also questioned how all elder committees could comprise
only delegates subscribing to NRM party.

elections citing massive voter bribery.

Several delegates who preferred anonymity told URN that they
each received 500,000 shillings to vote for the NRM Candidate. Each delegate
also received a transport refund of 480,000 Shillings from the Electoral
Commission.
