Pentecostal Churches Prepare to Install Bishop in Acholi Sub Region

They will consecrate Bishop-Elect, James Ochan, the Overseer of the Soul Gospel Church in Gulu Town in a mass that will also see more than 100 ministers of the Gospel Ordained into Reverends or Commissioned into Ministry.
The Council of Elders of the National Fellowship of Born Again Churches is set to install a new Bishop of the Pentecostal Diocese of Acholi. The religious ceremony will be held on February 3rd at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu Town. 

It will be presided by Bishop Tom Okello, a member of the Council of Elders of the National Fellowship of Born Again Churches assisted by two other elders Apostle Dr. Joshua Lwere and Apostle Alex Mitala. They will consecrate Bishop-Elect, James Ochan, the Overseer of the Soul Gospel Church in Gulu Town in a mass that will also see more than 100 ministers of the Gospel Ordained into Reverends or Commissioned into Ministry.

The Ministers who will be ordained paid 80,000 shillings towards ordination gowns and preparation fees. James Ocan was elected Bishop unopposed in a function held at Through Arts Keep Smiling (TAKS) Center in Gulu Town. The event attracted Pentecostal faithfuls from East and West Acholi Province of the Pentecostal Churches.

The election was presided by Pastor David Komakech, the Chairperson of the National Fellowship of the Born Again Pentecostal Churches Provincial Electoral Commission. Pastor Komakech says preparations for the consecration of the Bishop are in the final stages and more than 4,000 people are expected to attend the event. He says President Yoweri Museveni has been invited to grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour. 

Pastor Komakech says it is the first time a Bishop is being consecrated in Acholi Province adding that the Bishop will oversee the Diocese with the help of two Provincial Overseers in charge of East and West Acholi respectively. Pastor David Geoffrey Ocaka, a member of the Organizing Committee for the Consecration says 32.6 Million shillings will be spent on the event. 

The Fellowship was formed in 1990 to unite Pentecostal faithful in the various churches in Uganda. It has 43,000 Churches distributed in 14 region fellowship regions.
