People Power Activists Demonstrate in Jinja

During the protest which lasted for over 30 minutes, they held placards written on messages that are calling upon government to free Kyagulanyi and allow him traverse the country freely without any interruptions.

People Power activists in Jinja have staged a demonstration demanding the release of Kyadondo East MP, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi.

Led by Alex Mufumbiro, the activists set ablaze old car tyres in the roundabout, blocking vehicles.

During the protest which lasted for over 30 minutes, they held placards written on messages that are calling upon government to free Kyagulanyi and allow him traverse the country freely without any interruptions. 

They also held placards calling upon security agencies to end brutality against opposition politicians and their supporters.

Mufumbiro states that people power youth have mobilized themselves around Busoga sub-region and will continue to protest until government adheres to their demands of free space for all political actors in the country.

Erick Sakwa, the Jinja Resident District Commissioner, says that the security meeting has gathered enough intelligence about people power activists who are mobilizing youth to engage in protests adding that, they will be arrested. 

Sakwa further warned activists against staging protests along highways, stressing that, they may lead to accidents following the high traffic of consumer good vehicles.
