Police engaged in running battles with students at Makerere University last evening as students held their final rally ahead of guild elections scheduled for today.  The Chaos came after former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye sneaked into the university  to attend a rally at the freedom square.

Besigye had been sneaked into the campus in a Prado number UAM 736E belonging to the Makerere LCV woman Councillor Doreen Nyanjura. It had accessed the University through the Western gate. The vehicle was intercepted by operatives at the University main library opposite the school of Agricultural Sciences.
