Destruction that have been caused by the floods in Kitholu
Hope is fading among the rescue teams and families of the five people who remain buried by floods and mudslides that hit Karambi and Kitholu sub counties, in Kasese District.

The mudslides occurred in Kitholu sub county following heavy rains that led to the bursting of River Tunga from the mountainous part of Rwenzori last week. The mudslides mainly erased Kiraro and Kibate villages in Kiraro Parish.

However, since the incident only three bodies have been retrieved.

Alfred Bwambale, a member of the Red Cross rescue team says they have now lost the hope of finding any body buried under the rubble. Similarly, Mtungu Masereka, a resident whose son’s body is yet to be recovered says the family is losing the hope of ever finding  his remains.
