Kampala residents went to the polls on
Wednesday to elect the Lord Mayor and councillors.
A very low voter’s turnout
was registered at polling stations across the city compared to last week’s
presidential and parliamentary elections.
Some of the voters interviewed by URN said
they shunned the exercise because of disappointments from last week’s polls.
At
the different polling stations voters ignored the Standard Operating Procedures
such as wearing masks, washing hands and observing the recommended social
distance
Voting started late at various polling stations due to the late delivery of
voting materials. The vote counting exercise started at 4 pm but was disrupted
by rains.
Uganda Radio Network visited a number of polling stations and brings
you the story in pictures.
