Okere is a community-driven development project geared towards eliminating poverty and promoting education in the area.

The solar- powered city which sits on a 500- acre piece of land is located in Okere Mom Kok village, Adwari sub county in Otuke district.

Three years ago, the community members were lacking basic services like a clean water source, health services and even schools. The children in the area would walk for about 10kms to get to the nearest government primary school.

However, the city now has an Early Childhood Development Center, a primary school, a clinic, a village bank and a community hall that also serves as a cinema, church, and nightclub.
