The police in Gulu City on Wednesday battled Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party supporters for several hours.
They used teargas and live bullets to
disperse the rowdy crowds who were led by Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC
Presidential Candidate and Betty Aol Ocan, the Leader of Opposition in
Parliament.
The FDC were scheduled to campaign at Awere Open
Ground in Layibi-Bardege division but were blocked by police commanded by
John Bosco Nyangkol, the Officer In-charge of Gulu Central Police Station.
Some of the residents threw stones at the police while
others used threw back the teargas canisters at the police.
