On Wednesday, transport was paralyzed for several hours when more than 60 vehicles transporting passengers and merchandises got stuck on the road between Attiak Sub County and Alia in Pakele Town Council due to numerous pot holes, mud and poor drainage resulting from heavy rains in the recent weeks.
The state of the 100 kilometers Amuru to
Adjumani road stretch is wanting.
The road, which is the major business route
connecting four districts of Amuru, Moyo and Yumbe through Adjumani, has become
impassable due to heavy rainfall.
It is widely used by aid agencies to deliver
food and relief items to Pagirinya Refugee camp in Pakele Sub County Adjumani
district and Bidi Bidi in Moyo district.
The road also connects Adjumani to Attiak Health Centre IV in
Amuru district, St Mary`s Hospital Lacor and Gulu Main Hospital in Gulu
district and Elegu Border and Nimule in South Sudan.
