Officers from the Uganda People's Defense Forces-UPDF have spent the past two weeks engaging in humanitarian activities in the different districts of Busoga in preparation for Tarehe Sita, a day held in commemoration of the attack on Kabamba barracks in 1981 by the National Resistance Army.

Tarehe Sita celebrations climaxed with an official event in Bugweri district on Tuesday, held under the theme; "celebrating the people's struggle for unity, security and peace for social-economic transformation."

Before the main event, UPDF officers and men engaged in several activities ranging from infrastructure facelifts, general cleaning activities, sporting activities and medical camps, among others.

Lt. Col. James Sajjabbi, the acting Magamaga cantonment commander says that these activities are geared towards giving back to communities, which have selflessly committed themselves towards supporting UPDF in all their endeavours to ensure peace and security. He challenged the general public to embrace the prevailing peace and stability for their financial strength.
