The pioneer LC5 Chairperson for Amuru Basil Odongpiny has died
after a short illness.
Odongpiny died on Wednesday morning from St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu
where he was admitted for treatment.
The Atiak Sub County Councillor John Bosco Ocan says Odongpiny was
transferred from Atiak Health Centre IV where he was admitted on Tuesday night
in critical condition.
Ocan says Basil fell sick from his home in Anaka village, Okidi
parish in Atiak Sub County Amuru district.
Odongpiny served as the interim chairperson of Amuru district
after it was carved from Gulu in 2006, with his tenure lasting just six months.
