Anti-riot police have blocked the Hoima-Kampala road ahead of the triumphant return of Kitara football club from Bwikwe district.

The officers who are under the command of Tomson Mpabaisi, the Officer in Charge of Hoima Central Police Station have strategically deployed at Kigona in Buhanika Sub-county, about 10 km away from Hoima City.

Currently, no vehicle is allowed to go through Hoima-Kampala road, which has paralysed traffic flow.

Mpabaisi says they decided to block the road after receiving information that supporters of Kitara FC were planning to hold a procession through Hoima town to celebrate their qualification for the Star-Times premier league in contravention of the COVID19 preventive guidelines.

He says some of the supporters had already traveled to meet the team in Kyankwanzi and proceed with them to Hoima City in a procession. Mpabaisi, however, says they will not allow any procession within Hoima City.
