Police have blocked a meeting of Tooro royal clan elder. On Sunday, Charles Kamurasi Musunga, the head of Tooro royal clans invited members of the royal clan, selected kingdom elders and youths for a meeting at the kingdom headquarters.
Top on the agenda was to discuss the interference of the Kingdom administration by some palace officials led by the Queen Mother, Best Kemigisa and the continued absence of King Oyo from his kingdom.
However, some clan elders and youths leaders were surprised this afternoon to find more than twenty anti-riot police led by Godfrey Kahebwa, the Kabarole District Police Commander deployed at the headquarters.
They ordered the Kingdom officials to disperse and those who refused were threatened with arrest. The Kingdom hall where the meeting was supposed to take place was also closed and guarded by police and armed royal guards.
Kahebwa told Uganda Radio Network that he had got instructions from palace officials to stop the meeting because it wasn\'t blessed by King Oyo. He also said that the organizers of the meeting didn\'t seek permission from police.

The presence of the police angered the youths. Anthony Kalyegera, a kingdom youth, accused the police of interfering in the affairs of the Kingdom and stifling freedom of speech. Kalyegera says that although the meeting has been blocked, it will not stop them from airing their grievances.

In a telephone interview, Kamurasi said that he was last night summoned to the palace by Kemigisa, who forced him to call off the meeting. Kamurasi says that he told Kemigisa that he couldn\'t call off the meeting because the issues to be discussed are crucial and concern the people of Tooro.
Kamurasi says that he was surprised that the police was ordered to call off the meeting. Kemigisa and some palace officials have often been accused of interfering in the administration of the Kingdom especially dictating on how kingdom finances should be managed.
Last week, the Kingdom youth-wing under their umbrella Amacumu ne Bitara bya Rukirabasaija (the king\'s swords and spears), petitioned the Kingdom parliament Orukurato protest the continued absence of King Oyo from his Kingdom. They argue that the King has abandoned his kingdom and is reigning in kingdom-Buganda.
